Don't Worry, Be Happy

Tuesday, March 17, 2015
Everyone experiences good days, bad days, sad days, angry days and usually, for me, tiresome days. We're all sick of something, whether that be school, work or drama occurring in our lives. We wake up every morning, we go to school or get ready for work, come home and by the time we've had our dinner, it's time for bed. Many of us are living for the weekend, personally I'm living for the summer. Two entire months of freedom - no coursework to stress over and no unnecessary drama to avoid. I think, some way or another, everyone can relate to this.

We're getting older by the second, and I don't think that should sound as scary as it actually does! We focus too much on the negative vibes that surround us, and completely ignore the positivity we truly should be grateful for. I've came up with a list of 3 reasons to be happy. They will, without a doubt, relate to everybody some way or another.

1. You are loved. Family, friends and strangers.

You should always remember, no matter how bad life gets, there is always somebody who loves you and would do anything for you. A friend, a mother, a brother or a cousin, they're always a visit or a phone call away. They don't want to see you miserable or unhappy. If you're not doing it for yourself, do it for the people who love you. It will make your relationships with them much more enjoyable.

2. Tomorrow is unpredictable.
Don't wait until tomorrow to be happy. Take actions now. Nobody knows what tomorrow will hold. You could lose your job, lose a loved one or never wake up. It's harsh, but it's true. Start that diet today. Cook for your family. Meet your friends for lunch. Take your dog for a walk. You never know when you'll never have that chance again.

3. Happy is attractive.
Nobody is attracted to the miserable, moody cow in the corner. You may not notice it as well as others, but you look damn hot when you smile like that. Your skin is glowing and your eyes shine as they appear more alert and alive. It's a well-known fact that smiling makes you more approachable, and I'm just not relating this to romantic relationships. Smile at people on the street or the bus and I guarantee they will feel a little bit happier - just don't over-do it (we don't want to creep people out)!
A happy, smiling energy is a result of real happiness and gives the person the look of being more alive and more in the moment.

There are many, many more reasons to be happy and grateful for the wonderful life you are living! Learning to smile when you're feeling down can be hard, but it takes time and it takes great patience, but in the long-run you will be thankful for it. Who doesn't want to appear attractive, approachable and look youthful?! Being happy isn't as easy for some as it is for others, and that's the truth! I know from personal experience that being happy can seriously make the day go a lot easier. It can also bring up some pretty great opportunities. After a number of interviews, I was once picked out of a lot of applicants to attend a really special event as the interviewer admired my cheerful personality and remembered my smile! So yes, I am living proof that being happy can get you far and wide and life! Don't worry, be happy!
