'Blondes Have More Fun' - we're all familiar with this saying, right?! Despite, possibly, having 'more fun,' I'm here to tell you the truth about being a blonde. Trust me, it's hard work! Only about 2% of the world's population is naturally blonde, so if, like me, you're an 'unnatural blonde,' you can possibly, almost certainly, relate to the following problems;
1) Long, blonde hair = BIMBO - Think about this. Four girls are lined up against a wall. One of them has long brunette hair. Another has long blonde hair. One of them has short brown hair, the other, short blonde hair. Now, if somebody was asked to pick the 'bimbo' out of the four, it's almost sure they'll go straight for the girl with the long, blonde hair. I've encountered this problem many times and truthfully, it sucks. I blame the likes of 'Playboy' and 'dumb celebrities' for giving us this reputation. I can't tell you how many times people have said 'oh, you're so blonde sometimes.' Not everybody will agree with this, but I'm certain most can relate.
2) Being blonde is not cheap! - You're probably visiting the salon every four to six weeks to keep on top of your roots. You probably have a piggy bank dedicated to salon money. And let's face it, you've probably tried to save a few pounds attempting a DIY colour-kit (but let's not mention that.)
3) Purple shampoo is normal - To keep your hair from turning a horrid, brassy yellow colour, you have to stock up on purple shampoo, which doesn't come cheap! It's almost impossible to find and can be a mess in the bath-tub.
4) Powder is your best friend - Roots can be a pain. Greasy hair is not cute. You've ran out of dry shampoo, so what do you use? POWDER! Hides both grease and roots, powder is your new BFF. Nobody needs to know your secret and you smell like a babies' backside. Result!
5) "Are you from Sweden?" - Again, I've heard this at least 16 times in my lifetime, usually from creepy taxi drivers or drunk strangers. Norway, Poland, Sweden - I'm sure you can relate to one. It's funny the first couple of times, then it gets annoying.
6) Pool parties are your worst nightmare - So your best friend Jenny is having a super-cool pool party for her 16th birthday and everyone is invited. Sounds like fun, right? Wrong. You hate the swimming pool, you can't even swim when you're on holidays! Chlorine is the enemy! You refuse to wear a swimming cap, but then again, green hair is a no-no! Luckily, you can purchase 'Anti-Chlorine Swimmers Shampoo' that removes the metal ions that cause green hair, but again, effort.
7) Eyebrows - Unless you're a natural blonde, everyone will struggle with matching their eyebrows to their hair colour. Although it can look edgy on some, yes I'm referring to Kate Upton, it looks a little ridiculous on most. You can always try bleaching them, but then you may end up looking like an alien with no hair on your face. Learn to love'em, otherwise, you can't win.
Do you relate with these problems, or maybe you've came up with a few more! Let me know in the comment section!
